In The Club 50 – XMAS SPECIAL 2023!
It’s been a busy, busy few months since we last spoke. We had a magnifique PPCO bank holiday with 2 Andreas & The Wolf and 3 Narcotic Hearts gigs.
Then we had a 4 way mash up at the 2nd Annual Perfect Pop Co review party as The TCs swapped headline with the previous party with Narcotic Hearts, Andreas & The Wolf took main support, but for many it was a big highlight to see the return of The Scratch for a first gig in over 11 years. Gary Hawkins (ace producer) sat in with Grim, John and myself (Andy Scratch/AVBD) for a nostalgic quick fire set! But that’s not all from The Scratch or Gary Hawkins! 5th December sees the release (via bandcamp) of a long lost album – LIVE AT THE TAP. which is brilliantly reviewed as ever by the mighty Pete Ringmaster later in the mag.
Then just last month Narcotic Hearts made a welcome return to the fantastic Kevolution and also in Hertford Andreas & The Wolf played a storming set at the newly refurbished and very plush Hertford Corn Exchange, supporting Red Snapper. Who by a quirk of PPCO fate were an unknown band to me at the time. Featured in the lyrics of The Scratch’s 2nd single x-ray eyes! Speaking of who, you will see an advert above and within for a brand new never heard release by the band. Produced by Gary Hawkins.
All of this plus further recording of the forthcoming A&W and Narcs albums makes for a really productive few months. Hot off the press we have pics of Narcs support to pub rock legends Eddie & The Hot Rods, which has set us up perfectly for our final two PPCO shows of the year.
First one is tomorrow (6 Dec) so get your skates on for the Narcs 1st show at the Mermaid in St Albans supported by Lomax & Eagles the 2nd is the Official PPCO Xmas party (Dec 20) as we return to the Mad Squirrel Tap, St Albans scene of a fantastic bank holiday show. Both PPCO bands Narcs and A&W will be playing full sets and will be supported again by Lomax and Eagles. Both gigs are free entry so we really hope you’ll show your support to us one last time in 2023 and in return we promise a great night out! Sound fair?!
So as you can see there’s a whole heap of PPCO prezzies under the tree for you this year. Buy The Scratch album and see a live show, what more could you want?. See you at The Mermaid and Mad Squirrel and we can discuss it further over a pint!
Thanks to YOU for being here to share it with us! If you’ve been here since the very beginning (preferring us over ‘Gardener’s Weekly’, ‘Yummy Mummy Monthly’ and ‘What Man Cave’) we are about to enter a Brand New Era ™ of engagement, with MORE gigs, MORE features and MORE stuff you are gonna LOVE!
